Thermal Auricular Therapy
Thermal Auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candling) is a non-invasive treatment
of the ears. It is a relaxing and soothing treatment which aids a variety
of conditions.
The candles used to perform this treatment are made solely
from natural ingredients. The treatment is carried out an ear at a
time. A candle is
placed into the ear and lit, allowing to burn down to a specific level.
This usually takes about 10 minutes. The same procedure is then repeated
on the other ear. Having undergone this process the candles will have
loosened and drawn to the surface excess or compacted ear wax. The
client is then
asked to lie on their back for approximately a further 10 minutes,
whilst the practitioner stimulates certain pressure points on the face;
which
along with the hopi ear candling process itself, further aids lymphatic
drainage.
This therapy can be useful for a number of conditions, some
of the most common being, relief from:
- Irritation in the ears
- Sinus congestion and rhinitis
- Pressure headaches/migraines
- Glue ear
- Cold and flu like symptoms
As well as the above; by allowing hopi ear
candles to loosen and draw out excess or compacted ear wax it aids
in creating an equalised
pressure in the head and ears; thus easing congestion and in some
circumstances enhancing balance as a result.
Aside from the conditions listed which can be relieved by this form
of treatment; it is aimed at being a very relaxing treatment.
Whether or not it is one or both ears which are considered to
be the problem, both ears will always be treated. This is to ensure
that
balance is maintained at all times. |
