Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is primarily used to release muscular tension; boost circulation; aid in the alleviation of stress and help with the healing process after injuries. It also encourages the removal of waste products from the body, due to massage increasing both the circulation of blood and lymph fluids.

Swedish massage is a relaxing treatment which combines different techniques, from flowing gentle movements, to deeper massage addressing more problematic or tense areas. It enhances well-being on a number of levels from relaxation to stimulating blood and lymph flow as well as helping numerous conditions.

Swedish massage is particularly recommended to those suffering with stress related conditions or raised anxiety levels; as the massage techniques used stimulate the bodies nerve endings which causes endorphins to be released, therefore aiding the reduction of stress hormones.

When firmer pressure is applied during a treatment the circulatory system is stimulated to a higher level. Allowing this to happen means that more oxygen and nutrients can reach the tissues, which will not only improve skin tone but it will also stimulate the lymphatic system which carries waste products; and in turn can cause pain or stiffness in muscles. Therefore, by allowing massage to stimulate these systems an improvement in circulation and relief of muscle tension and stiffness is achievable.

Swedish massage is perhaps most recognised for its ability in providing muscle relaxation and assisting with joint mobility.
