What
is Reflexology?
Reflexology
is a therapy which has been used for hundreds of years.
It is both relaxing and beneficial for many conditions.
It is based on the principle that precise areas of the
feet correspond to all of the organs and systems of the
body. By stimulating these areas using a specific massage
technique, applying pressure to the reflex areas through
the use of mainly thumbs but also fingers, there is an
effect on the represented parts within the body, thus helping
to eliminate unwanted toxins as well as restoring parts
of the body which may have become unbalanced.
Reflexology treats the body as a
whole, thereby allowing action on the symptoms as well
as the causes of the symptoms. In addition to the treatment
of ill-health it can also be used to maintain good health
and general relaxation. This is particularly important
in today’s society since many people suffer from
stress and tension which is a well-known cause for ill-health,
therefore highlighting the importance of relaxation and
overall body maintenance as a preventative to this.
Reflexology can help a number of
conditions including:
- allergies
- backache
- cystitis
- depression
- digestive disorders
- headaches (migraines)
- hypertension (high blood pressure)
- menstrual problems
- stress related matters
What to expect from your first session.
A discussion of the client’s
medical history, everyday activities and general well-being,
will be recorded and an observation of the feet will be
carried out.
Following this, a reflexology treatment
will be given. This involves a systematic massage of both
feet, which will last approximately of an hour.
Treatments are performed in a relaxed
and calming environment, within the privacy of a well-equipped
treatment room.
