Fitness & Nutrition Consultancy

At the Harrison clinic we believe the combination of discreet consultation, private nutritional planning, specifically targeted physical activity and continuity are an answer to better well-being.

Everybody is different in their needs and goals, and for this reason each person is treated uniquely (there are no pre-designed plans). The initial session is very thorough. The consultant will need to gain understanding of where the client is now and where they want to be and very importantly what has stopped them attaining their targets in the past. A detailed history of physical activity and nutrition will be recorded to gain an insight into lifestyle, eating habits and current activity levels.

The basis of each session thereafter will be to work towards the individual's goals whatever these may be; weight loss, a greater feeling of well-being/increase in energy levels, development of cardiovascular fitness levels, increasing stamina, rehabilitation back to activity or sport, strengthening the body, improvement of posture, decreasing stress levels, decrease blood pressure, to name a few.

Each session will be made up from a combination of physical activity carried out on a one to one with your consultant (indoors or out-doors) and nutritional review, planning and guidance. The mix of these two elements will depend entirely upon the individual's requirements.

NUTRITION

At the initial session an individual may identify nutrition as a key area to work upon. If so they will take a nutrition diary away with them to be kept for a week. This nutrition diary will allow the consultant to analyse the person's daily intake of food and drink. Such analysis provides the transparency needed to provide advice, education and ongoing planning for a healthier lifestyle and targets to be attained and more importantly, maintained!

FITNESS

Whatever the individual's fitness level our consultant will work with them at each session towards their goal. In order to improve a person's fitness level there will be different types of training available; mat work, core stability, flexibility and stretching, balance, resistance training, kettlebell training, boxing, walking, running, circuit training. The activity will always be enjoyable, motivating and progressive. It is tailored for the client's specific level and is results orientated.

Finally, our consultant will agree a training and nutrition programme with the client for the week ahead or until their next session. This fitness programme is based on safely stretching the person's ability and around whatever equipment they have available to them. A programme could be completed at a gym or equally at home or in the garden. It doesn't even have to be "fitness" as we know it; it could be gardening for an hour or walking the dog - this is entirely dependant upon the individual.
