Cranial
Osteopathy
Cranial
osteopathy is a safe and natural approach to health care
for all life stages. It recognises the importance of the
subtle mechanics at work in the head and their profound influence
on the health of the whole body.
Baby’s heads are designed to adapt
to the forces of labour and any consequential distortions
in the head are usually released soon after birth. However
there are many reasons why labour may be difficult or complicated
and the baby may be unable to fully resolve the stresses
and strains of birth by itself.
The gentle, skilful application of osteopathic
treatment by an osteopath experienced in treating babies
can often bring about a significant improvement in these
distressing cases. Cranial osteopathy is increasingly being
considered as a treatment of choice for some conditions caused
by difficult or traumatic birth.
The Harrison clinic practitioners can help
many of the symptoms of retained birth compressions including;
Fractious babies, learning difficulties,
behavioural problems, glue ear, sinus problems, feeding difficulties,
colic, disturbed sleep patterns.
However the cranial approach to osteopathy
is not exclusively for babies and children and is effective
at treating musculoskeletal aches and pains, headaches, and
many more conditions.
The treatment is very gentle and effective.
It may appear as the osteopath is doing nothing more than
placing their hands on the patient, when in fact a variety
of complex techniques are being used.
Care of children at The Harrison
Clinic is deliberately relaxed. Our practitioners do not wear
white coats and the treatment room is warm, inviting and
informal.
